A simple question, but here it goes:

How can you take a screenshot in the new Kaffeine (in 12.04)? The old version (0.88 ) I ran in 10.04 still had a lot of options in the UI, but the newest version's been stripped down and there's like nothing left. I can't find anything in the Configure shortcuts either. Using the desktop screenshooter's not a good alternative b/c of the long delay between running it and actually taking the screenshot.

BTW, if it matters, I'm not running Kubuntu on my system, only installed Kaffeine w/ whatever KDE stuff it requires to my XFCE desktop.

Nothing. Is it because the developers have decided to remove the (simple) screenshot command in Kaffeine for good or because this place is dead and no one will show up with an answer? Yes, I know people are devoting their free time to helping strangers free of charge, and making demands is ill-advised, but I've tried searching on my own, the FAQ on the site sheds no light on this issue, the kaffeine config file in my home folder has no screenshot settings, and I'm pretty much at the end of my tether. As described in my previous post, the desktop screenshooter fails miserably in taking a screenshot of a live TV show/broacast.

Is it still possible to revert to the 0.88 version, which worked pretty reliably even in my non-KDE surroundings and allowed for much more tweaking? Vlc is another app I've used for watching TV, but since the 12.04 upgrade, it's become too much of a resource hog (both CPU and RAM) to work adequately, and it's useless for recording TV. Me-tv, another alternative I had installed in the past, was always acting up for some reason and slow as well. Mythtv or other bloatware is definitely not the answer given the hardware limitations.

There is a 12.04 version of kaffeine?
I have 1.2.2

I only see 1.2.2 on the download page so 12.04 must be special for your distro.

I don't see a built-in screen capture but you can pause live tv with the space bar and use an external program.

I removed the newest version (I think 1.22, whatever ubuntu repos have in 12.04) and re-installed the 0.88 from the nvidia-vdpau ppa. It required a few extra steps to find all the required dependencies for the old version, but I installed them and then the 0.88 version install worked. And with the old config files still in my .kde folder, it's back to normality, and the screenshot command is visible in the kaffeine menus (as well as CTRL+S shortcut).

Problem solved. Au revoir.
