Hi;

I have this strange problem in that certain TV stations have intermittent audio. It only happens on some base Los Angeles digital channels, such as 2-1, 4-1, 28-1. The sub-channel stations [28-2, 28-4] do not exhibit this and are fine with audio. If on these base channels, I click pause, then wait say 10 seconds, and resume play, the audio is fine for a while, lasting longer on some channels.

I'm using Kubuntu Maverick, WinTV-HVR-9500 on a HP DC5100 with about a gig of RAM. I've re-installed Kaffeine, and re-scanned all the channels.

I don't have any audio issues with other programs.

It turns out the problem is on channels with a higher resolution. So I modified ~/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine/xine-config to the following values:

engine.buffers.audio_num_buffers:500
engine.buffers.video_num_buffers:2500

In Kaffeine I turned de-interlacing off, using the menu item playback | video | then clicked on Deinterlace to turn it off. It now works fine.

I got some assistance from:

I guess this may be a processing issue for the old HP DC5100 with Kaffeine, but the TV works fine using XP and the WinTV software!
