Greeting to you all on the forum!!!
Just install Ubuntu10 yesterday. Managed to install kaffeine but cannot find Intelsat 10 0r Eutelsat W7 in the dropdown list. Trying hard to read post but could not figure out how to add a new satellite or
to edit tp on an existing one. I'm not familiar with the terminal mode.
so I read it should be like this
/home/USER NAME/.kde4/share/apps/kaffeine/

When I open terminal I get the line below
nicholson7@ubuntu:~$
Now what command to type after the above line. Just copy the above did not give me the result.
I've already downloaded the sat list in kaffeine format. Please help.

Open kaffeine go to Television - Configure Television and click the "update scan data over the internet" button.

This will create a file with the transponder info. Now close kaffeine, open a terminal and copy & pate this into it:

Code:
gedit ~/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine/scanfile.dvb

now a text editor will open with some transoper informations for dvb-s/c/t

Look for your sat or add it keeping the provided stanza. e.g.

Quote:
[dvb-s/Intelsat-1002-1.0W]
S 4175000 V 28000000 AUTO
S 4180000 H 21050000 AUTO
S 11093000 H 19191000 7/8
S 11166000 V 1450000 7/8
S 11182000 V 3100000 7/8
S 11606000 H 13356000 7/8
S 12527000 H 27500000 3/4
S 12563000 H 27500000 3/4
S 12563000 V 27500000 3/4
S 12607000 H 27500000 3/4
S 12607000 V 27500000 3/4
S 12643000 H 27500000 3/4
S 12643000 V 27500000 3/4
S 12687000 H 27500000 3/4
S 12687000 V 27500000 3/4
S 12718000 V 18400000 3/4
S 12723000 H 27500000 3/4

S .... Sattelite
12723000 ... Transponder Frequency
H ... Polarisation (Horizontal or Vertical)
3/4 ... FEC of the transponder. Use AUTO if you are not sure.

Note that most sats do not require all the transponder info. For e.g. Astra 19.2 one "Master Transponder" carries all used transponder data that the kaffeine scanner will use.

After your edit save the text editor and start kaffeine. Also do not press the "update scan data over the internet" button or all your edits will be lost!
