Hi
I have successfully installed this great program on my Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10). Everything workes to my full satisfaction, bar the scrambled channels. I have TechnoTrend Premium S-2300 PCI-card with the CA tray. I want to watch the 7 Swiss TV-Channels (until now, the Windows-Software from TechnoTrend allows this without problems. Logically I have a valid and legal SRG-Card (Swiss Broadcasting Corporation). The channels are seen by the software (I get the EPG-Information and the On Screen Information when choosing one of the channels, but no picture and no sound. Does anybody have a solution?
Furthermore, I have not found how to import Radio-Streams. I do have all the http:... data. At present I get the Radio Streams via VLC media Player. Does anybody know, if this feature is installed in Kaffeine, or is it in the pipeline?
Thanks in advance for any help. |

Hi,
I had the same problem using kaffeine 1.0-pre3. It does not support Common Interface devices at all.
However, I just checked out the version from svn and they are definately working on it. At the moment I am able to watch some encrypted channels, some of the encrypted channels are still not working (i.e. a black screen appears). I own a FireDTV DVB-C card with an AlphaCrypt CI card to decrypt encrypted channels.
I suppose that it will be fully implemented and working in the next release. We probably have to wait some more time... |

I have the same problem and I am using kaffeine 1.1 on ubuntu 10.10. My solution has been to use an old ubuntu package: kaffeine_0.8.7-1ubuntu5_amd64.deb and that
one works fine on scrambled channels, but it's starting to
annoy me to have to use a 2year old package to get this to work, isnt there another solution?
lspci say i have this dvb card:
Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
I also have cam-card reader with that card which works fine with kaffeine 0.8.7 |
