kaffeine 1.2.2-1 crashes on execution

This has only happened since I tried to make it do something useful, following the resiting of DVB channels in the UK and particularly in my (CrystalPalace) area.

A mint install will start up but will not find anything with its scanner. It did before the changeover mind you.

When I deploy manually edited scanfile.dvb and sqlite.dvb files, kaffeine crashes on execution with kde4 saying it has seg fault 11.

The running kernel is 2.6.38.8-pclos3, a 64-bit variant. w_scan generates a meaningful file which suggests that the hardware and firmware are intact.

I did generate a channels.conf using w_scan but it crashes whether I copy it to kaffeine's directory or not. (This is wrong. The content should be fed into sqlite.db I think but I don't know how).

All suggestions for recovering from this will be welcome.
